Industrial Electrician (Levels 1–3)
Location: River Rouge, MI (Zug Island)
Facility: Heavy Industrial Coke Battery
Schedule: 12-Hour Rotating Swing Shift (ABCD Crew Rotation)
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
About the OpportunityThis opportunity is within a 24/7 heavy industrial coke battery facility supporting blast furnace steel production. This is a gritty, legacy industrial environment — not a clean manufacturing or automotive plant.
This role is ideal for electricians with strong controls logic experience who are comfortable working in harsh, high-heat environments and troubleshooting live industrial systems.
Schedule- 12-hour rotating swing shift
- Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- 4-week rotation (work 14 days out of 28)
- Crews rotate together (ABCD schedule)
- All employees start on day shift for training
- Must be available for on-call rotation
- Level 1: $36.15 – $38.83/hr
- Level 2: Up to $44.00/hr
- Level 3: Up to $49.69/hr
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems in a continuous-process environment
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to controls logic, PLCs, and process automation
- Work with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Automacs, and DCS systems
- Support and maintain transmitters, control loops, and process control logic
- Perform electrical work on motors, MCCs, drives, and industrial power distribution
- Read and interpret electrical prints, loop diagrams, and control schematics
- Respond to equipment failures in high-heat, high-risk environments
- Follow strict lockout/tagout and safety procedures at all times
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime
- Controls logic experience (primary separator for this role)
- Experience with PLCs, DCS, and industrial control systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills in heavy industrial environments
- Comfort working around high heat, open flame, and live processes
- Strong safety mindset and situational awareness
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check
- Strong safety record
Physical Requirements
- High-heat industrial setting with hot surfaces and open flame areas
- Continuous exposure to dust, fumes, Coke Oven Gas (COG), and airborne particulates
- Loud noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Work at heights, on uneven surfaces, and in confined spaces
- Fire-retardant clothing
- Respirators and SCBA as required
- Fall protection systems (harness/lifeline)
- Clean-shaven policy enforced (mustaches above the lip permitted)
- Medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage starting Day 1
- $2,500 sign-on bonus at hire
- Additional $2,500 after 1,040 hours worked
