Riverbank Unified School District is seeking dependable Campus Monitors to promote campus safety, supervise student activities, and build positive relationships with students throughout the school day. This role is ideal for individuals who remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and are committed to fostering a secure and welcoming school community while supporting student success.

Campus Monitor, under supervision of the Site Principal and/or the Designee, monitors the school campus in order to maintain a safe and orderly environment; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge and Application of:

Maintain order and control among students;
Interact and communicate with problem students;
Maintain self-control and an objective point of view during stressful and/or potentially violent or disruptive situations;
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
Physical capability sufficient to perform job tasks as indicated on the attached pre-employment physical examination requirements for the security classifications.

Ability to:

  • Work confidentially
  • See for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels
  • Communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl
  • Perform moderate to heavy physical exertion
  • Lift 50 pounds
  • Carry 25 pounds
  • Reach in all directions (physically)
  • Maintain order and control among students
  • Apply effective interaction and communication skills with all students including those demonstrating inappropriate behavior
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Establish and maintain cooperative organizational and community relationships
  • Stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time
  • Work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations
  • Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Meet schedules and deadlines
  • Plan and organize vs utilize time management and organizational skills
  • Essential Functions of This Position

    May include, but are not limited to:

    1. Patrol the school campus including hallways, lunchrooms, restrooms, offices, and locker rooms in order to insure student safety

    2. Assist teachers with unruly students

    3. May help maintain order on incoming and outgoing buses

    4. Gather information regarding rumors of potential violence; contact school site administrator or local police (if necessary)

    5. Check halls during class time making sure students are in class; check students' hall passes; escort students to office on referrals

    6. Assist with student control at athletic events and student rallies

    7. Provide temporary classroom coverage for teachers during emergency situations

    8. Gather information on suspicious people or activities; may escort non-students off campus or contact school site administrator

    9. Assist the site administrator or designee in holding and supervision one-hour detention

    10. Write reports on any serious incidents

    11. May contact parents regarding notices, referrals, or detention

    12. Performs related duties as assigned

    Education/

    Experience:

    High School Diploma or GED required;
    One (1) year working with secondary students; training and/or experience in law enforcement and/or social services desirable.
