About the Department

The Riverdale Park Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency committed to community partnership and exceptional public service. Guided by our core values of Service, Honor, Integrity, and Professionalism, our department includes twenty-five sworn officers and eight civilian professionals. Operations include 24-hour patrol, dispatch services, investigations, and community engagement through the Chief’s Community Advisory Committee.

The Town seeks a Full-Time Telecommunicator (Communications Dispatcher I) working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Employment is contingent upon a background check, drug screening, and physical examinations.

• Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls
• Prioritize and dispatch police resources
• Guide callers in stressful situations
• Communicate via telephone and radio
• Update statewide/national databases
• Handle confidential information
• Liaise between the public and officers
• Maintain certifications and training

• U.S. Citizen, 18 or older
• High School Diploma/GED
• Strong communication skills
• Proficient typing/data entry
• Decision-making under pressure
• Pass background investigation

• Prior dispatch or public safety experience
• Bilingual (Spanish)
• Associate’s Degree (A.A.)

A growing town of approximately 7,286 residents, located between Hyattsville and College Park, Maryland. Riverdale Park is experiencing significant growth and development, including the addition of two Purple Line transit stations. The Town operates under a Council‑Manager form of government, with a Mayor and six Council Members.

• $25 per hour or DOE
• Night shift differential
