Position SummaryThe Washington Commanders are seeking a qualified individual to join the team as a full-time Manager, Community Relations. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively to develop and execute impactful community programs and events that align with the needs of the community, the mission of the organization, and the goals of corporate and nonprofit partners.
This role will oversee strategic partnerships, event execution, and initiatives that enhance the Washington Commanders' presence in the community while driving measurable impact.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Washington Commanders and community organizations, nonprofit partners, and corporate sponsors.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment between community needs, team initiatives, and sponsor objectives.
- Work closely with the NFL, local government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to amplify community outreach efforts.
- Lead the planning and execution of high-impact community engagement events, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality experiences for participants.
- Collaborate with internal departments (Marketing, Sponsorship, Game Day Operations, etc.) to integrate community initiatives into broader team programming.
- Host and represent the organization at community events, facilitating public appearances, panels, and interacting with media when necessary.
- Design and execute community-driven initiatives that address social causes such as education, health & wellness, military & first responders, and social justice.
- Manage partnerships that drive volunteerism, and in-market activations aligned with team and sponsor priorities.
- Ensure all community programs include measurable outcomes and storytelling opportunities to showcase impact.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships team to develop and execute activations that align Commanders social purpose and sponsor objectives with meaningful community outreach.
- Ensure sponsor fulfillment and develop recap reports that highlight community engagement metrics.
- Develop strategic plans, progress reports, and post-event recaps for internal leadership, sponsors, and external partners.
- Manage the individual budgets for community programming and events, ensuring cost efficiency and maximum impact.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of community partners and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in community relations, partnership activation, event management, or nonprofit work.
- Strong event planning and logistics management skills with a proven ability to execute large-scale community activations.
- Ability to build and manage relationships with corporate sponsors, nonprofit partners, and key community leaders.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in public speaking and community engagement.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of conceptualizing, executing, and completing projects successfully.
- Experience managing budgets and sponsorship activations.
- Knowledge of the NFL and the professional sports industry is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and travel as necessary.
