What we're looking for:
GNC's Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, this hands-on program teaches the skills and knowledge needed to operate a store, drive results, and develop and lead a team.
We are seeking a dynamic individual who embodies GNC s "Live Well" philosophy and is excited to offer tailored and innovative solutions to each customer.
What You ll DoThis is a Full-Time Hourly Supervisory Position
- As a SMIT, you will be trained and expected to lead, coach, and support your team to provide exceptional service and guidance to customers.
- Alongside a Store Manager or District Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the store, including business performance and product management.
- You will ensure your team has the tools to succeed and represent the GNC brand by offering expert product knowledge and promoting the "Live Well" message.
- Responsible for actively engaging with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support you on your path to promotion during the program.
- Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the customer relationship that leads to sales and repeat business (e.g., MYGNC Rewards).
- Ability to achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals, while helping sales associates realize their sales potential.
- Ability to build strong teams, demonstrate leadership, and manage performance, including giving feedback, recruiting, hiring, and development of store associates.
- Opening, closing, and operating the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory counts, and deposits according to GNC procedures.
- Attending community fairs, conferences, meetings, and other public gatherings to promote the organization s mission and initiatives.
Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager position. At the end of 90 days, performance will be assessed to determine eligibility for promotion, considering factors such as performance, openings, and willingness to relocate within the designated market.
Environmental Factors & Working Schedule- Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting — below waist and above shoulders.
- Frequently required to use repetitive hand-to-finger motions and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently lifting up to twenty pounds, occasionally up to 40 pounds. Push/pull up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders, reach, and bend.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 50–85 degrees, especially in stock room areas.
- Use of a computer up to 60% of the day.
SMITs are expected to work five (5) days per week (40 hours) and adhere to the following guidelines:
- SMITs in mall and strip center stores must work at least two nights during the week until closing, one weekend night, and one other night.
- Strip center SMITs must work a full shift on Saturdays.
- Mall SMITs are expected to work peak business days, including weekends.
- SMITs are expected to work a minimum of one full Sunday per month.
- Downtown store SMITs must work during lunch hours (11am–2pm) Monday through Friday and one weeknight if the store is open in the evening;
Saturdays are not required for downtown stores. - SMITs are expected to work all major U.S. holidays when the store is open.
