Substitute Teacher

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER
(Valid Illinois Substitute Teaching License or other qualifying Illinois educator credential)

• Must hold avalid Illinois Substitute Teaching License or other qualifying Illinois educator license appropriate for substitute teaching.
• License must bevalid and properly registered in ELIS (Educator Licensure Information System) before employment.
• Applicants seeking a regular Substitute Teaching License generally must possess abachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution, unless qualifying through another ISBE-approved pathway.
• Candidates holding aShort-Term Substitute Teaching License may be considered subject to ISBE requirements and assignment limitations.
• Must successfully complete all District 148 pre-employment requirements, including required onboarding documentation and training.
• Must authorize and successfully complete the required fingerprint-based criminal history/background checkand applicable offender-database checks before beginning employment. Illinois law requires these checks as a condition of school district employment.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, effective communication skills, and the ability to work successfully with elementary and middle-school-aged students.
• Must be able to follow teacher lesson plans, District procedures, school rules, safety protocols, and administrator directions.
• Must maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students, staff, and District information.

• Day-to-Day Substitute Teacher: $160.00 per day
• Long-Term Substitute Teacher: $200.00 per day after serving more than 10 days in the same assignment and school building,
  subject to District policy and applicable licensure requirements
  .

• Submission of an application does not authorize an applicant to begin working.
• All required credentials, background clearances, employment documentation, and District onboarding requirements must be verified and approved by Human Resources before an individual may accept an assignment.
• Applicants should be prepared to provide theirIEIN and current Illinois educator license information for verification.

• Previous classroom, substitute teaching, or educational experience.
• Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and willingness to accept assignments throughout the District.
