Accountant I/II Position
The County of Riverside's Department of Behavioral Health, Revenue Division, is seeking an Accountant I/II to join our team in Riverside. This position is responsible for coding and tracking incoming funds received, processing reconciliations, analyzing and verifying revenue-related financial documents, monitoring the classification and distribution of revenue to the appropriate accounts, preparing supporting accounting reports and schedules, and maintaining accurate fiscal records and internal controls to ensure the integrity of revenue transactions.
The Accountant I is the first working level classification in the professional Accountant series and reports to a supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents may perform either accounting or auditing functions and are expected to have a broad knowledge of the principles and practices related to these functions in order to facilitate fiscal control and analysis, and to assume working level duties of limited difficulty.
The Accountant II is the fully qualified journey level classification in the professional Accountant series and reports to a supervisory or manager position. Incumbents perform the full range of assignments requiring a greater technical knowledge than those given to the Accountant I class. Incumbents may be assigned the responsibility for an accounting subdivision or for the accounting function of a County department or may be given auditing assignments of average difficulty.
In addition, incumbents may supervise clerical or technical staff, and may mentor Accountant Trainees.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
- Experience performing accounting functions in a public sector or governmental agency environment.

Education not meeting the 18-semester or 27-quarter unit Accounting concentration does not fulfill our educational criteria.
Work Schedule:
9/80 Friday - Day Shift Salary Range:
Accountant I: $32.50 - $45.09 per hour Accountant II: $34.29 - $47.57 per hour
