The County of Riverside's Department of Behavioral Health, Revenue Division, is seeking an Accountant I/II to join our team in Riverside.
This position is responsible for coding and tracking incoming funds, processing reconciliations, analyzing revenue–related financial documents, monitoring classification and distribution of revenue, preparing supporting accounting reports and schedules, and maintaining accurate fiscal records and internal controls to ensure the integrity of revenue transactions.
Responsibilities- Establish, review, revise, and maintain controls on fiscal record‑keeping functions.
- Examine and analyze fiscal record‑keeping systems, procedures, and documents (e.g., vouchers, warrants, purchase orders, receipts, invoices).
- Prepare trial balances, reconciliations, worksheets, and schedules.
- Prepare a variety of accounting, statistical, and narrative reports.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of budget and internal controls.
- Develop routine or complex rate and cost models.
- Track, report, and reimburse routine federal or state grants.
- Supervise clerical or technical staff and mentor accountant trainees (Accountant II only).
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or a related field with at least 18 semester (or 27 quarter) units in accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, financial reporting, or business finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
- Experience performing accounting functions in a public sector or governmental agency environment.
- Valid CPA or CIA license (preferred).
- Foreign equivalency of U.S. education completed outside the United States, if applicable.
Accountant I: $32.50 – $45.09 per hour
Accountant II: $34.29 – $47.57 per hour
Work Schedule9/80 Friday – Day Shift
