Accounting Services Clerk (Business Services) - Norco College
ResponsibilitiesBASIC FUNCTION:
Performs a variety of accounting work and tasks in connection with the District's accounting and payroll operations.
- Prepares financial and statistical reports as directed.
- Reviews requisitions, purchase orders, travel requests, and expense claims to determine proper budget codes and authorization and performs other budget control functions as assigned.
- Assists with budget, requisitions, and travel requests.
- Maintains files and distributes reports to user departments as required.
- Assists with monitoring, reconciling, and maintaining accurate and detailed records for all governmental funds.
- Assists in the preparation of various payroll related tasks, including calculation of pay, timesheet verification, attendance verification, employment verifications, and maintenance of complete and accurate confidential payroll records.
- Reviews and verifies the accuracy of periodic financial reports.
- Assists with the year‑end closing process.
- Assists with the preparation of audit schedules and the audit process.
- Maintains familiarity with all aspects and procedures of the District’s accounting office, including conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and compliance with the Budget and Accounting Manual.
- Participates in District‑provided in‑service training programs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned; duties not listed do not exclude this classification if the work is similar or related.
Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience in a school district or higher education accounting office, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
KnowledgeMust possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers to retrieve or file information. Must lift, carry, push, and pull materials or objects up to 10 pounds.
EnvironmentalConditions
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset individuals in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
