Position: Safety Coordinator II (Traveling)

Safety Coordinator II

The Safety Coordinator II supports field operations by conducting jobsite safety observations, identifying hazards, and reinforcing safe work practices across active construction environments. This role operates with increasing independence and helps maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety programs, and project-specific safety requirements.

Ideal candidate will be based out of or around Riverside or Orange County. Example coverage areas may include San Bernardino south to San Diego, East to Palm Springs. No guarantee that jobs will be in those areas, but just an example of potential job assignment locations.

Field Safety & Hazard Recognition
  • Conduct routine safety walkthroughs across active construction areas
  • Identify and document hazards, unsafe conditions, and corrective actions
  • Monitor work involving:
    • Fall protection
    • MEWP operations
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Temporary power
    • Electrical safety
    • Excavation and trenching activities
  • Reinforce safe work practices with field personnel
  • Escalate unresolved or high-risk concerns to leadership
  • Support corrective action implementation and follow-up
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting systems
  • Track corrective actions to completion
  • Assist with incident documentation and preliminary investigations
  • Ensure consistency and quality in field reporting
High-Risk Work Support
  • Review permits, AHAs, and safety plans for completeness
  • Observe high-risk work activities and identify gaps or inconsistencies
  • Participate in pre-task planning discussions as needed
Training & Communication
  • Support toolbox talks and safety discussions
  • Reinforce company safety standards and procedures
  • Provide guidance to newer safety personnel
  • Communicate hazards and expectations clearly with field teams
Compliance & Collaboration
  • Support implementation of company safety programs and procedures
  • Assist with OSHA compliance efforts and site audits
  • Work closely with field leadership, project teams, and subcontractors
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
  • Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification
  • OSHA 30 & OSHA 510 (CHST big plus)
  • Experience working safety in Ground Up Commercial or Industrial Construction (Commercial electrical big plus).
  • Experience leading training and onboarding
  • Working knowledge of construction safety practices and hazard controls
  • Experience using tablets, mobile devices, and safety management systems
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and work on active construction sites
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to wear required PPE throughout the workday
Work Environment
  • Active commercial, industrial, and renewable energy construction sites
  • Exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, uneven terrain, and changing site conditions
  • Frequent collaboration with field personnel, supervisors, and project teams
