Position: Graphic Designer (20 Hours/12 Months)

Summary

The Graphic Designer role for the College of Architecture, Visual Arts & Design (CAVAD) supports CAVAD Leadership by executing visual design solutions that enhance the college’s identity, storytelling, and public presence. This role focuses on producing creative assets across digital, print, social media, and environmental platforms in alignment with university brand standards and CAVAD’s distinct visual identity. The position contributes to the design and production of materials for marketing campaigns, web and social media content, and signature events, ensuring consistency, creativity, and quality across all deliverables.

This is a part‑time position supporting a range of communications and engagement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of creative concepts aligned with CAVAD’s communications strategy.
  • Design and produce visual assets across digital, print, social media, and environmental platforms, including marketing materials, event collateral, and campaign graphics.
  • Apply established brand standards to ensure consistency and quality across all visual communications.
  • Support the creation of design assets for website updates, social media, and digital campaigns, with an understanding of platform‑specific requirements.
  • Assist with the design and production of materials for CAVAD signature events (e.g., CAVAD Week, Welcome Night, Alumni Mixer, Lectures), including promotional and on‑site graphics.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and communicating progress with CAVAD Leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director, faculty, staff, and student contributors to support communications, storytelling, and engagement efforts.
  • Organize and maintain design files, templates, and asset libraries to ensure accessibility and continuity.
  • Prepare and deliver production‑ready files for print and digital distribution, coordinating with internal teams or vendors as needed.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices to enhance visual communication quality.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the University’s Christ‑centered mission and values in all work and interactions.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to living out and upholding the University’s Christ‑centered mission and values.
  • Strong graphic design skills, including typography, layout, color, and visual composition across digital and print formats.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, service‑oriented approach.
  • Ability to interpret communication goals and translate them into effective visual solutions.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital design best practices.
  • Working knowledge of standard workplace tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Keynote, Slack).
  • Adaptability and willingness to support a variety of design and communication needs.
Physical Demands

The physical requirements described here are representative of those necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. Duties include standing, walking, sitting, and using standard office equipment. The role requires visual acuity and the ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone. Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university and 1-3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A portfolio demonstrating design work across digital and print platforms is required.
