The job of instructional assistant, sign language is done for the purpose of assisting a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely, physically or visually handicapped students in a classroom who use American Sign Language as their primary language; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance and assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Required experience:
Six months of experience providing sign language interpreting for hearing impaired individuals. Experience in a school setting is preferred. Required education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Required testing:

- Copy of transcript (optional: in order to bypass testing, a copy of legible transcripts must be attached to your application showing successful passing of 48 or more eligible semester units from an accredited college/university. (must attach transcripts showing grades earned - diploma copies will not be accepted))
- Letter of introduction (letter must be specific to the position for which you are applying)
- Letter(s) of recommendation (two (2) letters of recommendation are required and must be signed by the author. The signature block must include the author's name and title/relationship to the applicant. Letters must be dated within the last 2 years prior to the recruitment closing date. Letters without author's signature, name and title/relationship to the applicant and letters without a date or dated more than 2 years prior to the recruitment closing date will not be accepted.
