Position: Humane Education & Community Outreach Coordinator - $22.50 -$26 per hr

Under the general supervision of the Director of Development, the Humane Education & Community Outreach Coordinator develops and facilitates engaging educational programs for youth and adults, including tours, camps, scout programs, and community events. This role builds and maintains partnerships with schools, community groups, and the public, promotes responsible pet care and humane behavior to reduce the number of unwanted abused and neglected animals in the community, manages and supports volunteers, and creates educational and digital content to expand the organization’s impact.

The HECOC also works within the program budget and supports fundraising efforts to meet program needs, requiring strong organizational, communication, and public speaking skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the Programs & Services Manager, administer, develop, and continuously improve humane education programs for youth and adults.
  • Organize and conduct classroom presentations in schools and educational settings.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Pet Adoption Center tours for groups and individuals (scouts, charter schools, community groups, etc.).
  • Develop and lead birthday parties, scout programs, field trips, PAC Paws Reading Program, and seasonal winter and summer camps.
  • Design and tailor programs to meet organizational needs and target population gaps.
  • Monitor program success and implement improvements as needed.
  • Work within the humane education budget and actively support fundraising efforts to meet the financial needs of assigned programs.
  • Select, develop, and maintain educational materials and a library of resources for classroom and public use.
  • Provide education and assistance to students, educators, community groups, and the general public on animal-related topics.
Community Outreach & Partnerships
  • Represent the organization at school fairs, vendor events, community festivals, and outreach activities.
  • Build, maintain, and expand partnerships with schools, libraries, youth organizations, and community groups.
  • Increase school partnerships through strategic outreach and planning.
  • Boost parent engagement and involvement in youth-centered programs.
  • Support the development of new outreach opportunities that promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment.
  • Assist with tours, donor visits, thank‑you events, and the educational components of fundraising campaigns.
  • Support community awareness initiatives and mission‑driven public events.
  • Co‑facilitate volunteers as needed to ensure program success.
  • Provide direction and support to volunteers assisting with humane education programs, tours, birthday parties, camps, scout programs, and outreach events.
Marketing, Communications & Digital Content
  • Assist with communications and marketing efforts in support of humane education and community outreach.
  • Create engaging educational content for social media, newsletters, and public communications.
  • Produce short educational videos or host live sessions on responsible pet care, humane values, and animal behavior.
  • Develop digital content, infographics, and multimedia tools to support education programs.
  • Contribute to donor communications, stewardship content, and grant‑writing materials highlighting education and community impact.
Administrative & Event Support
  • Assist with networking and support of special events and new community awareness opportunities.
  • Attend offsite community events, schools, and vendor fairs as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in animal welfare, education, or related field.
  • Demonstrated public speaking experience
  • Must have a high level of computer literacy
  • Minimum one year teaching experience in organized classroom setting
  • Criminal background check required
  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure
  • Ability to organize, supervise and motivate volunteers
  • Experience and comfort delivering presentations to a variety of different age groups
  • Good interpersonal skills required for working with a variety of individuals and groups
