Part‑time Senior Citizen Education Instructor – Humanities Related Subjects

Riverside Community College District is seeking qualified applicants to establish a pool for part‑time and/or substitute instructors in this discipline. Applications will be kept on file for one year from the date of submission. When a position becomes available, the hiring department will review the applications on file and contact the candidates they are interested in interviewing.

The assignment will include lecture and/or laboratory instruction in the discipline. All assignments are contingent upon District need and/or sufficient enrollment, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes.

• Education:
  
  A bachelor’s degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, and (A) or (B) below.
• (A) Thirty hours or two semester units of coursework or classwork in understanding the needs of older adults taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district. This requirement may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor.
• (B) One year of professional experience working with older adults, OR an associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught; and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; and sixty hours or four semesters units of coursework or classwork in understanding the needs of the older adult, taken at an accredited institution of higher education or approved by the district.
  
  This last requirement may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)
• Teaching experience is desirable.
• Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (E.C. 87360a).
