Instructional Assistant Special Education
Instructional Assistant Special Education I Basic Function:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students in a special education resource learning environment; assist the teacher in meeting the educational needs of learning handicapped students and students enrolled in the Resource Specialist Program (RSP), Special Day Class (SDC) or other students as assigned; perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
Instructional Assistant Special Education II Basic Function:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely, physically or visually handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.
Intensive Behavior Interventions Assistant Basic Function:
Under the direction of an assigned Special Education Manager, assist a certificated teacher in the supervision and instruction of special education students in a variety of educational settings including other district locations, community and classroom.
Instructional Assistant Special Education I
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with students in special education is desired.
Instructional Assistant Special Education II
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of working with students in special education.
Intensive Behavior Interventions Assistants
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with students in special education and satisfactory completion of a proficiency examination.
License & Other Requirements:
Must pass equivalent academic assessment test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing and mathematics or reading, writing and mathematics readiness. A valid California's driver's license and proof of current and appropriate auto insurance coverage (for Intensive Behavior Interventions Assistant position only).
