Qualifications and
Experience:
- Valid teaching credential with Deaf/Hard of Hearing authorization
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong knowledge of Deaf culture, language development, and communication modalities (e.g., ASL, auditory-oral, total communication)
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, families, interpreters, and related service providers
- Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, individually or in small groups
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and communication preferences
- Monitor progress and participate in IEP meetings, developing measurable goals aligned with students’ strengths
- Consult and collaborate with school staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion in all school activities
- Offer resources, guidance, and advocacy for students and families
- Maintain thorough records and documentation as required by state and federal guidelines
