Coordinator of Graduate Retention and Re-Entry

Compensation for this position is expected to be $28.85 perhour
, in alignment with what California Baptist University (CBU ) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Success Coaching, the Coordinator of Graduate Retention and Re-Entry role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing initiatives that support the retention and success of currently enrolled graduate students while leading efforts to proactively identify, engage, and re-enroll eligible former students. Working collaboratively with academic departments and administrative offices, this position leverages data-informed strategies, targeted outreach, and student-centered support services to remove barriers to success, strengthen student engagement, and promote persistence through degree completion.

Under the leadership of the OSS, the Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing institutional retention, re-enrollment, and graduation goals.

Position Funded by External Grant

This position is funded, in whole or in part, through external grant funding and is contingent upon the continued availability of such funds. Should grant funding be reduced, suspended, or terminated, the University reserves the right to eliminate the position immediately. The University may, but is not obligated to, evaluate the ongoing viability of the position in the absence of grant funding.

If the position is determined to remain viable, in whole or in part, the University, at its sole discretion, may modify the position, including reducing it to less than full-time status. Any decision regarding the continuation, modification, reduction, or termination of the position remains solely within the discretion of the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized guidance to students regarding re-entry processes, initial registration, degree planning, and navigation of University policies and procedures to facilitate successful re-enrollment.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement student retention and persistence initiatives in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Retention and other campus partners.
  • Develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate retention, persistence, and re-entry reports and dashboards to support data-informed planning, intervention, and decision-making.
  • Design and execute targeted outreach and re-recruitment strategies for withdrawn, stop-out, and at-risk students, serving as a primary point of contact throughout the re-enrollment process.
  • Coordinate and administer re-entry programs and activities that identify and address academic, financial, administrative, and personal barriers affecting student success and persistence.
  • Foster meaningful relationships with students through proactive communication, individualized coaching, and re-admission consultations that support a successful transition back to the University.
  • Collaborate with Student Accounts, the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, academic schools and colleges, and other stakeholders to facilitate seamless student continuation and re-entry pathways.
  • Develop and implement strategic retention, persistence, and re-enrollment communication campaigns designed to increase student engagement and improve enrollment outcomes.
  • Participate in early-alert and intervention efforts for academically at-risk students and coordinate workshops, peer mentoring initiatives, and other student success programs that promote persistence and degree completion.
  • Monitor and evaluate retention, persistence, re-enrollment, and graduation metrics; identify trends; and recommend evidence-based strategies to enhance student success and institutional outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate student records and case documentation in accordance with University policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Serve on University committees, task forces, and special projects related to student success, retention, persistence, and re-enrollment efforts as assigned.
