Summary of the Role

We are seeking a full‑time Solar Corps Community Outreach Fellow to partner with our outreach team, increase enrollment of income‑qualified clients, and educate underserved families about solar and energy efficiency. Fellows support the solar installation process and provide post‑installation follow‑up, gaining experience for future careers in solar sales, community engagement, or related fields.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead or support a lead generation campaign for single‑family enrollment and other GRID programs.
  • Pre‑screen leads and follow up as needed.
  • Assist in the client application process.
  • Research, attend, and present at community events such as workshops, tabling events, and fairs.
  • Conduct and assist with homeowner training after system installation.
  • Provide follow‑up with clients post‑installation.
  • Create outreach materials, including social media posts, flyers, and videos.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship, national, or legal permanent residency.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Commitment to an 11‑month fellowship.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent GRID positively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and decision‑making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and scheduling tools.
  • Must register and maintain a Home Improvement Salesperson registration with the Contractors State License Board after commencing employment.
  • Enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need.
  • Availability for an in‑person Mid‑Year week‑long Career Readiness Retreat in California.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clean, valid driver’s license and driving record.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language.
  • Prior sales or community outreach experience.

Compensation

  • Full‑time stipend of $40,800 over 11 months (approx. $21.40 per hour).
  • Members who complete 1,700 hours and the full term are eligible for a $10,000 Segal Ameri Corps Education Award upon successful completion.

Location and Travel

The ideal candidate will be based in Riverside, CA. The role may require up to 25% out‑of‑town travel to regional offices, special projects, and team events. Occasional night or weekend work may be required. GRID Alternatives may provide a vehicle for work travel or reimburse personal vehicle use, contingent on a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
