Responsibilities- Provide specialized support to the District's telecommunications operations and services.
- Coordinate maintenance, upgrade, and expansion of structured cabling and telephony needs.
- Participate in planning and serve as technology representative in facilities and construction projects for cabling infrastructure and telecommunications requirements.
- Design, install, configure, and monitor telecommunication systems, devices, and related components.
- Prepare reports and maintain technical documentation.
- Assign and supervise work as needed, including coordination of temporary staff, student workers, contractors, and vendors.
- Maintain up-to-date drawings, diagrams, and plans on structured cabling, conduits, and networking rooms using industry-standard software.
- Establish and maintain filing, recordkeeping, and tracking systems for telecommunications assets.
- Install, configure, and administer telephony systems and devices (including analog, VoIP, cellular, cloud-hosted, campus emergency phones, E911, voicemail, and automated attendant systems).
- Coordinate services and incident resolution with carriers and vendors to optimize uptime of data and voice circuits.
- Prepare utilization reports on the District's telecommunications systems.
- Research industry standards and best practices to recommend improvements and efficiencies.
- Maintain documentation of cabling infrastructure and related systems.
Education and Experience: An associate's degree in telecommunications or a closely related field and three (3) years of telecommunications and cabling infrastructure experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

- Operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive telecommunications system and cabling infrastructure.
- Current and state-of-the-art telecommunications and related voice and data systems.
- Facilities and construction planning, projects, and processes.
- Best practices in installation, maintenance, and administration of telecommunications systems and peripherals.
- Operational characteristics of telecommunications hardware, software, and devices.
- Telephony systems including analog, VoIP, cellular, cloud-hosted systems, campus emergency phones and E911, voicemail, and automated attendants.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex telecom issues.
- Industry standards for copper and fiber cabling installations.
- Tools and equipment for telecommunications work.
- Purchasing policies and procedures.
- Technical and business report preparation.
- Applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies relevant to telecommunications duties.
Abilities:
- Perform specialized and technical duties in support of the District's telecom infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues across diverse telecom systems and devices.
- Maintain and manage assigned systems; research best practices and prepare management recommendations.
- Maintain drawings, diagrams, and plans for structured cabling and networking rooms.
- Prepare system specifications, standards, and technical documentation.
- Manage inventory and provide detailed usage reports.
