Senior Water Engineer – One Stop Shop
Department:
Water Engineering – Development Services Division, City of Riverside Public Utilities Department (RPU). One (1) vacancy currently available.
- Perform studies of technical, environmental, and economic feasibility for proposed and existing municipal water facility projects.
- Prepare contracts and specifications for engineering and construction services.
- Plan, execute, and complete special projects requiring engineering and technical expertise.
- Provide background information and documentation to management for various projects.
- Make sound decisions on minor engineering problems, and independently resolve technical issues.
- Develop and update written directives, guidelines, standard material lists, and technical policies for departmental use.
- Research water materials, engineering practices, and advanced engineering concepts.
- Prepare and review economic, hydraulic, and hydrogeologic analyses and project justification reports.
- Oversee and advise less experienced engineering personnel in an advisory or supervisory capacity.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university (or a closely related field).
- Five (5) years of professional water utility or related engineering work comparable to the Utilities Assistant/Associate Engineer role in the City of Riverside.
- Registration in California as a Professional Engineer is required.
- Experience managing water development projects through all phases: entitlement, approval conditions, plan review, development fees, construction, and inspection.
- Knowledge of water rules and rates, including interpretation and resolution of related issues.
- Plan checking and review of water utility plans, civil engineering construction plans, and building plans.
- Preparation or review of construction cost estimates.
- Processing of fire flow tests and review of results.
- Customer-service experience at a public-facing counter.
- Master’s degree in a field related to water utility engineering (preferred).
