Position Summary
The Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering at California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track position in Aerospace, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering. While candidates should feel comfortable teaching a variety of courses in Mechanical Engineering, industry and/or research experience in thermal/fluids, heat transfer, or aerospace engineering is highly valued to support the mechanical engineering degree and the aerospace engineering minor.
Exceptional candidates with experience in other areas of mechanical engineering are also encouraged to apply.
The compensation for this appointment will range from $110,000 –$125,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
QualificationsA PhD in a related field is preferred, although candidates with a master’s degree who are either working toward a terminal degree or have significant industry or research experience may be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to embrace the mission of California Baptist University and develop evidence of a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service through the integration of Christian faith and learning.
Experience in academic leadership at the department or college level is desirable.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a wide range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level within the Aerospace, Industrial and Mechanical Engineering department. The selected individual must demonstrate effective communication skills and will engage student learning in both lecture and laboratory environments. The candidate is also expected to supervise graduate research projects and undergraduate capstone design projects, support curriculum and program development, conduct student outcome assessments, provide academic advising to students, and work with industrial partners.
