Reliability Technician - Toro

Shift & Compensation

Reliability Technician II – 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

Starting Wage: $29.59 per hour.

• Confers with Failure Analysis personnel to assign project priorities, review test plans, procedures, and objectives.
• Disassemble the product to investigate and analyze its components.
• Examine the unit or components for defects related to manufacturing, design, installation, and/or service.
• Sets up, observes, and conducts tests in both field and laboratory conditions under operational conditions to investigate design, components, materials, etc., for performance and to obtain data to identify the root cause of failure and corrective action.
• Records test procedures, collects test data, records results into the database, and prepares written reports.
• Confers with Failure Analysis personnel on data analysis and interpretation to determine failure causes and make recommendations for corrective actions.
• Performs other required duties as needed in addition to the essential functions described above.

• Education and Experience:
  
  3 to 5 years of related experience and/or hands‑on technical work and writing experience; apprenticeship or formal training in mechanics, mechanical design, and plastics knowledge is desired. A comparable combination of education, training, and work experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
• Training:
  Knowledge of Total Quality Management is helpful. Familiar with the usage of precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, comparators, gauges, load and tensile testers). Ability to read, understand, and use blueprints, schematics, and test procedures. Ability to use a computer and various software applications, including spreadsheet software. Data collection, technical writing, and reporting skills.

  Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. Ability to use a calculator to perform routine math.
• Reasoning Ability:
  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Language skills:
  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal customers.

Works under minimal supervision. Provides subject matter expertise to other groups to resolve problems and determine corrective action. Interfaces with various Toro departments as necessary.
