The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program seeks Temporary Elections Assistants (TEAs) to support the Registrar of Voters for the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election. There are multiple positions available. See below for details.

Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday, including weekends and holidays with mandatory overtime.

The Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) recruits and hires temporary employees for all County departments. TAP assignments are a great way to learn about working for the County on a temporary, at-will basis.

TAP Benefits:

  • FRONT COUNTER CUSTOMER SERVICE/RUNNERS: Strong customer service skills required. Primary duties include vote-by-mail processing with a high level of detail, front counter voter assistance, managing traffic flow, standing for extended periods, and performing other duties as needed.
  • DATA ENTRY/PHONES: Strong customer service skills required. Primary responsibilities include entering registration card information and answering incoming phone calls. Communicate election-related information clearly, accurately, and professionally to voters and the public.
  • BALLOT COLLECTION: Provide support with Ballot Box Drop Off locations throughout Riverside County. Must possess a valid California Driver's license and be willing to use personal vehicle for assigned locations. Mileage reimbursement provided.
  • VOTE CENTER STAFF: Provide support with Vote Center Site Lead and Assistant Lead coverage and support to Ballot Box Drop Off locations. Lead a team in processing voters, time and volunteer management, problem solving, and closing procedures. Attend a five-week Training Academy.
  • POLL CALL CENTER STAFF: Strong customer service skills required. TEAs are responsible for recruitment and retention of up to 1,000 volunteers. Maintain and update reports, enter notes and records into the database, and assist with pre- and post-election duties. Answer volunteer questions by phone and escalate issues to supervisors as appropriate.
  • VOTE CENTER SURVEY STAFF: Ability to frequently lift up to 30 lbs. Conduct Vote Center Site Accessibility Surveys and identify potential sites for Vote Centers. Maintain reports and assist with pre- and post-election duties.
  • WAREHOUSE: Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks in warehouse, office, and outdoor environments. Duties include preparing, staging, loading, unloading, storing, and distributing election materials and voting equipment; mail preparation and delivery; programming, testing, and preparing electronic voting equipment; coordinating facilities and outreach; conducting accessibility surveys; staffing ballot drop box locations; securely transporting ballots;

    verifying documentation; data entry; and maintaining compliance with ballot handling and chain-of-custody procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, ability to travel to multiple work sites, and availability for flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended shifts are required.
  • WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS: Lift up to 30 lbs and use basic warehouse equipment after training. Perform mail preparation, pickup/delivery, programming of electronic voting equipment, prep of Vote Center supply sets, and related duties. Strong data entry, computer, and printer skills; experience with driving larger vehicles is a plus. Ability to work in various environments and adapt to changing schedules.
  • BALLOT COUNTING: Ability to stand and operate ballot counting equipment for extended periods and lift ballots as needed.
