Supervision
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Analyst performs analysis, reporting, and auditing for University Extension. The analyst extracts data from UCR and Extension systems to develop monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and forecasting. They develop new reports and audit financial data to measure against organizational KPIs, prepare grant reporting to ensure compliance, and provide data and reports to assist budget managers.
The analyst assists with a variety of financial services, including reconciliation, entry of grant budgets in Kuali, routing of business contracts, maintenance of accounts receivable, and collections to ensure timely billing and accuracy. They resolve financial-related problems through analysis, interpretation of policy, and recommendations, and work cross-functionally in work groups to perform process improvement.
- Perform specialized financial services to support departmental academic initiatives.
- Coordinate the routing and tracking of Business Contracts to ensure all agreements meet University policy and departmental requirements.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) and budget managers to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth administrative workflows.
- Manage the lifecycle of grant budgets, including strategic entry and maintenance within Kuali.
- Apply professional financial and accounting concepts to independently analyze moderately complex financial services, such as researching discrepancies, tax implications, and compliance with external regulations and internal policies.
- Responsible for submissions to the revenue journal.
- Research and gather information from multiple systems, review and reconcile data for accuracy, and develop full revenue and expenditure reports; develop custom reports upon request.
- Prepare reports and analyses summarizing financial transactions, evaluating current and proposed services for management review and decision-making.
- Assist with ensuring accurate financial processing functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, recharge billing, travel/entertainment, gift accounting, cashiering, and collections.
- Serve as a resource to support staff on issues such as researching financial discrepancies, escalated customer service problems, and vendor concerns.
- Conduct and assist with researching, developing, and implementing new and changing business processes.
- Assess and recommend changes to maintain compliance with federal and state requirements and internal financial/audit policies.
- Participate in audits of internal records and processes and prepare recommendations for changes as needed.
- Document processes and procedures for financial activities.
- Review, process, and approve standardized financial data and transactions.
- Effectively address difficult and complex customer inquiries.
- Monitor delivery of quality customer service to internal and external constituencies.

Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required. - Experience
