Scientific Recruiter | Connecting Top Talent in Life SciencesWe are seeking a resourceful and cost-conscious Buyer to manage the procurement of manufacturing supplies, tools, and equipment. This role goes beyond order placement—it's about bringing strategic insight to purchasing decisions that drive uptime, efficiency, and operational value.
Pay Rate: $65,000 - $80,000 (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure manufacturing supplies, repair parts, tools, and equipment
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering to align on procurement needs
- Analyze when it’s more cost-effective to repair or replace parts or equipment
- Identify trends in repeat purchases and suggest opportunities for improvement
- Research, evaluate, and onboard vendors focused on quality and cost-effectiveness
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times to meet both short- and long-term goals
- Resolve issues related to shipping, product quality, or invoicing
- Use purchasing data to identify cost savings and streamline processes
- Maintain accurate records, ensure compliance, and follow up on open orders
- Support capital equipment procurement from vendor selection through setup
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
- At least 1 year of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or plant setting
- Experience using eMaint or similar CMMS systems is required
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and data analysis
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and cost-analysis skills
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and balancing competing priorities
- Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
