Position Information

The Office of Student Affairs at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine oversees and enhances the quality of student life experience throughout the four years of medical school. The Manager of Admissions leads the operational and strategic efforts of the medical school admissions process, supervising a team of staff, managing application review platforms, overseeing the review and interview processes for more than 6,000 annual applications, creating strategic plans, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, recruiting, and implementing policies to support the school’s mission.

The Manager serves as liaison to the AAMC, ensures compliance with admissions protocols, and provides data‑driven insights to enhance admissions outcomes while fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and evaluate operational processes of admissions, recommend changes, streamline operations, and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead planning, organization, and implementation of admissions, including training, updating the admissions platform, preparing interview materials, reviewing applicant files, scheduling interviews, and conducting the multi‑mini interview process.
  • Provide guidance to subordinates on complex issues, review difficult cases, assist staff with events and support, and suggest revisions to policies and procedures.
  • Lead system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements; identify changes to business practices and update policies and procedures; supervise a team of three staff.
  • Develop and evaluate a comprehensive recruitment strategy, collaborate with Pathway Programs, promote relationships, and represent the School of Medicine at recruitment and partnership events.
  • Make hiring recommendations, train staff, deliver performance evaluations, counsel staff, and recommend corrective action.
  • Monitor employee performance to ensure goals and objectives are met, and oversee day‑to‑day operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 6–10 years of related experience (8–13 years preferred).
  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
  • Effective writing and editing skills; experience developing policy, reports, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of human resources policies, training, monitoring, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Critical thinking, problem–solving, strong interpersonal skills, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and business software.
  • Knowledge of education theory, fiscal management, UC policies, and transfer policies.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for recruitment outreach.
Other Requirements

Shift work (hours outside 8AM‑5PM) required; occasional travel; ability to drive; ability to work evenings and weekends.
