Four Day Work Week:
Two (2) days in office, two (2) days remote. However, there may be certain circumstances, like pressing deadlines or peak business periods, where it becomes necessary for the organization to temporarily switch to a five-day work week.
California will define the next decade of climate action, and the resources behind that work have to keep pace. Enviro Voters is scaling its institutional funding program, and we need a senior fundraiser who can lead people, own strategy, and represent the organization with our most important foundation partners. This role sits at the center of a growing team, shaping how we cultivate funders, build the pipeline, and turn ambitious climate and justice campaigns into sustained investment.
This is a leadership role. The Deputy Director of Institutional Giving manages grant staff, drives portfolio strategy across both Enviro Voters (501c4) and the Enviro Voters Education Fund (501c3), and serves as a senior relationship holder with institutional funders. As a senior member of the Philanthropy Team, the Deputy Director of Institutional Giving leads the day-to-day operation and growth of the institutional giving program for Enviro Voters and the Ed Fund. This role manages grant staff and consultants, owns a portfolio of high-priority institutional funders, drives annual grant strategy and revenue planning in partnership with the Director of Institutional Giving, and ensures the full grant lifecycle runs with excellence across both entities.
KEYPRIORITIES
- Lead and develop the institutional giving team
- Manage grant staff and consultants supporting the institutional giving portfolio, including hiring, coaching, and performance development
- Set portfolio assignments, workflows, and quality standards across proposals, reports, and stewardship activities
- Evaluate and strengthen systems and processes for grants management, ensuring compliance and alignment with organizational values
- Own strategic funder relationships
- Manage a portfolio of the organization's largest and most complex institutional funders, leading cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and stewardship
- Represent Enviro Voters and the Ed Fund with funders and program officers, including independently leading meetings, pitches, and site visits
- Drive portfolio strategy and revenue growth
- Support in the execution of an annual institutional giving strategy aligned with organizational priorities and revenue goals
- Expand the funder pipeline by identifying, researching, and cultivating new institutional prospects for both entities
- Support the Director of Institutional Giving in annual budgeting, revenue forecasting, and monthly revenue reporting
- Ensure grant management excellence across both entities
- Oversee production of multi-year and one-year proposals and reports, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery
- Provide internal guidance on permissible grant usage across c3 and c4 entities, including compliance with lobbying and electoral activity restrictions
- Project manage complex, cross-departmental proposal development and ensure funding agreements are finalized, signed, and paid on schedule
- Work proactively with program, policy, and finance staff to meet all programmatic and fiscal reporting requirements
- Seven or more years of institutional fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment, including demonstrated success securing and renewing five- and six-figure grants
- Two or more years of staff management experience, with a track record of coaching and developing fundraising or grants professionals
- Expertise in cultivating and stewarding external funder relationships, including leading solicitations and negotiations independently
