Overview

A proactive Controls Systems Technician will focus on equipment troubleshooting and maintaining material handling equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets.

Day in the Life
  • Maintain material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, Control Net, Device Net, motor control systems, servo drives, variable frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Monitor material handling equipment metrics and partner with facilities/operations for system performance issues.
  • Utilize FC/DC system assessment reports to improve material handling performance through maintenance and repair of identified deficiencies.
  • Perform and use FC/DC system assessments to identify opportunities to improve utilization of systems and equipment.
  • Communicate technical issues to Facilities Maintenance Management and Operations Leaders.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical instrumentation.
  • Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of computer‑based process control, SCADA, and PLCs using diagnostic tools, historical data, blueprints, factory specifications, and CMMS.
  • Analyze system failures or conditions to determine root causes or potential for breakdown.
  • Evaluate problems or work assignments to determine scope of project, set priorities, assess resource needs, and plan follow‑up activities.
  • Provide assistance to peers, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in electronic technology/engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of systems control knowledge and PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Working knowledge of ladder logic and PLC software such as Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 or 5000; experience with RS Logix 5000 is a plus.
  • Ability to identify, maintain, and troubleshoot PLCs and components using relevant software.
  • Experience supporting a wide range of conveyors and sortation systems.
  • Experience with automation controls systems.
  • Industrial electrical hands‑on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3‑phase, 110 V AC, and 24 V DC systems.
  • Understanding of Warehouse Management System software, including warehouse control systems.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $31.75 – $50.50. The position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives or bonuses. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, and length of employment.
