Painter IIILocation: Riverside
Pay Range: $29.00 - $33.00/hr
Schedule: Onsite from 6am - 2:30pm
Position SummaryThe Painter Level III is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for advanced surface preparation and finishing of buses and bus components. This role requires expert knowledge of industrial coatings, complex paint systems, and quality standards, while serving as a technical resource and mentor for lower-level painters. The Painter Level III ensures all paint work meets appearance, durability, and safety requirements.

- Perform advanced surface preparation including sanding, masking, priming, and sealing on bus bodies and components
- Apply complex paint systems (urethane, epoxy, multi-stage, and specialty coatings) to buses and subassemblies
- Mix paints and coatings accurately according to manufacturer specifications and production requirements
- Spray large vehicle exteriors and interiors to achieve uniform finish, correct film thickness, and color match
- Inspect completed paint work for defects such as runs, fisheyes, orange peel, and color inconsistencies; perform corrections as needed
- Interpret engineering drawings, paint codes, and work instructions to meet customer and regulatory requirements
- Troubleshoot paint application issues and recommend process improvements
- Maintain paint booths, spray equipment, and tools to ensure proper operation and quality results
- Lead by example on safety, PPE usage, environmental compliance, and housekeeping standards
- Support training and mentoring of Painter Level I and II employees
- Coordinate with production, quality, and engineering teams to meet schedules and quality expectations
- Expert knowledge of spray equipment, paint chemistry, and curing processes
- Ability to consistently produce high-quality finishes on large vehicles
- Strong understanding of safety practices related to paints, solvents, and hazardous materials
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- 5+ years of industrial or heavy-vehicle industrial painting experience, preferably in a bus, truck, or automotive manufacturing
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, or transit vehicles preferred
- This is an onsite position based in Riverside, CA and requires being 100% onsite.
