Sandblasting Operator
As a Sandblasting Operator, you will prepare surfaces for coating or repair by removing rust and paint using high-pressure abrasive blasting. You will operate heavy machinery, safely strip paint, grease, and corrosion from metal surfaces, and set up, calibrate, and maintain sandblasting equipment and portable air compressors.
Responsibilities- Safely strip paint, grease, and corrosion from surfaces using abrasive blasting.
- Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain sandblasting equipment and portable air compressors.
- Load, unload, and dispose of various abrasive materials such as sand, glass beads, and steel shot.
- Ensure the proper finish on metal surfaces by selecting the appropriate abrasive materials.
- 1–3 years of hands-on sandblasting experience.
- Experience in the automotive or aerospace industry, particularly with large items such as bus frames.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn assembly processes.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools.
- Ability to read and follow basic drawings or work instructions.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
- Reliable attendance and a strong focus on safety.
Skills & Qualifications
- Mig welding and blueprint reading skills.
- Experience in general labor, assembly, painting, and automotive repair or manufacturing.
This position offers the opportunity to transition from a contract to a permanent role after 720 hours of work, providing stability and growth. You will gain valuable experience in a dynamic environment, enhancing your skills in the automotive or aerospace industry.
Work EnvironmentWork hours are Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm, with flexibility for overtime and possibly working on Saturdays. The role involves frequent use of hands and the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 40 lbs, with occasional heavier lifting assistance. You will be standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods during shifts. Good visual acuity and hand-eye coordination are essential for precise operations.
The environment may involve exposure to hot and cold temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, welding fumes, dust, and airborne particles, necessitating proper protective equipment. Tasks may be performed on uneven surfaces, and climbing ladders or working at elevated positions may be required.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
