- Responsibilities/Duties:
Tasks - Full penetration butt weld 6G test
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Ability to use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools
- Ability and willingness to stand, walk, bend, squat and lift objects for long periods of time
- Ability and willingness to lift and carry material weighing up to 50 lbs
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Weld separately or in combination, using stainless steel, and other alloys.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
- Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.
- Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
- Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.

- Align parts or work pieces to ensure proper assembly.
- Apply protective or decorative finishes to work pieces or products.

- Clean production equipment.
- Clean work pieces or finished products.
- Cut industrial materials in preparation for fabrication or processing.

- Fill cracks, imperfections, or holes in products or work pieces.

- Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
- Mark products, work pieces, or equipment with identifying information.
- Measure dimensions of completed products or work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.

- Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.
- Mount materials or work pieces onto production equipment.
- Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.
- Operate grinding equipment.
- Operate metal or plastic forming equipment.

- Reshape metal work pieces to established specifications.
- Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
- Select production equipment according to product specifications.

- Trim excess material from work pieces.
- Watch operating equipment to detect malfunctions.
- Education, Work Experience, Skill Requirements &
Certifications: - Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent/Some college preferred.
- Minimum Experience required:
- Minimum (2-5+) years of proven experience as a Welder
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and proper operating procedures (TIG, MMA, blow torch etc.)
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Skills Required:
- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
- Minimum License, Certifications & Affiliations/Memberships and CEU's
- Valid California driver's license and an insured vehicle in good working order.
- Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus.
