Responsibilities
Cover clinical offices based on operational need and assist in the examination and treatment of patients, take vital signs, record patient charges, and patient history. Assist in minor office procedures, participate in patient education, and communicate effectively within the scope of practice. Maintain thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques. Required to work at varied locations.
Essential Functions- Cooperate in cross training to ensure coverage at all times for all offices.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information on the patient’s chart.
- Prepare treatment room for examination of patients; assist physicians with procedures; clean and sterilize examination rooms and equipment.
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients and their families to gain cooperation and understanding.
- Administer prescribed medication orally or by injection (subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermally) and document time, dosage, and route on the patient’s chart; observe patients and report any adverse reactions.
- Administer treatments and perform routine laboratory tests under supervision of a physician, allied health professional, or an RN.
- Initiate intravenous lines, add plain IV fluids to existing lines, and discontinue lines under the direction of the physician or an allied health professional (must be IV certified).
- Perform electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments, and operate other certified equipment.
- Travel between departments and facilities on an as‑needed basis based on coverage requirements. Inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
- Operate within the LVN scope of practice and Riverside Medical Clinic policies and procedures.
- Ensure all expired sample medications and patient supplies are discarded upon expiration date.
- Maintain current California LVN licensure and BLS certificate.
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM. Weekends and Holidays, 8:30 AM – 9:30 PM.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required. Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Vocational Nursing. Two years of experience preferred working as an LVN in a multi‑specialty group setting.
Certificates, Licenses, and RegistrationsCurrent California LVN license;
Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare); IV certification required. Current ACLS certification – American Heart Association preferred.
