Position: LPN/LVN - Urgent Care - Full time

Responsibilities

SUMMARY:

Responsible for covering clinical offices based on operational need. Assists in the examination and treatment of patients, takes vital signs, records patient charges and history, and assists in minor office procedures. Participates in patient education, communicates effectively with others, and functions within the scope of practice. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques. Requires work at varied locations.

Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 9:00PM. Weekends and Holidays 8:30AM to 9:30PM.

Qualifications

EDUCATION or

EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED required. Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Graduate of an accredited school of LVN. Two years' experience preferred in a multi‑specialty group setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Current California LVN License;
Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (BLS); IV Certification required;
Current ACLS Certification (preferred).

Essential Functions

Cooperates in cross‑training to ensure coverage at all times for all offices.

Interviews patients; measures vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; records information on patient chart.

Prepares treatment room for patient examination; assists physician with procedures; cleans examination room and sterilizes equipment after use.

Explains procedures and treatments to patients and their families to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehensions.

Administers prescribed medication orally or by injection (subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermally) and documents time, dosage, and route on patient chart; observes patient and reports any adverse reactions.

Administers treatments and performs routine laboratory tests under supervision of a physician, allied health professional, or RN.

Initiates intravenous lines, adds plain IV fluids to existing lines, and discontinues lines under direction of a physician or allied health professional (must be IV certified).

Performs electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments, and operates other certified equipment.

Travels between departments and facilities as needed based on coverage requirements; inventories and orders medical supplies and materials as needed.

Functions within LVN scope of practice and Riverside Medical Clinic policies and procedures.

Ensures all expired sample medications and patient supplies are discarded upon expiration date.

Maintains current California LVN licensure and BLS certificate.
