Position: Graduate CRNA: General & Regional Anesthesia (Sign-On)

Job Summary

Under the medical supervision of a physician anesthesiologist, administer general and regional anesthesia for all types of surgical, obstetrical and other procedures that require anesthesia services to patients of various age groups including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric in accordance with hospital and departmental standards of care. Such interventions may include airway management, maintenance of fluid balance, homeostasis, monitoring, response to emergencies related to airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and management of patients on ventilators.

Responsibilities
  • Administers anesthesia to all age groups.
  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Complies with organizational rules, policies and procedures (i.e. TJC, Title 22, regional and departmental requirements).
  • Evaluates patients pre‑operatively by interviewing and examining them.
  • Reviews chart for relevant information.
  • In collaboration with MD selects anesthetic based on pre‑operative examination.
  • Demonstrates understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation in delivery of services to each age group.
  • Evaluates patient response to pre‑medication.
  • Communicates with surgeon and physician anesthesiologist regarding patient’s special concerns.
  • Checks anesthesia equipment daily and between cases to assure safe operating condition.
  • Prepares drugs for administration.
  • Administers anesthesia per clinical privileges and restrictions.
  • Monitors patient intraoperatively.
  • Evaluates operative and postoperative condition and maintains stability.
  • Evaluates patient postoperatively (within 24 hours).
  • Maintains accurate accounting of controlled substances per departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies per department policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations with public, patients, staff and other personnel.
  • Might perform other duties within scope of licensure/certification as required.
  • Must be able to work within an anesthesia team model, work with MDAs, CRNAs and anesthesia techs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience:

    N/A.
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program by Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and Schools by date of hire.
  • License & Certification:
    Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (California) within 5 months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required at hire (from American Heart Association).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire (from American Heart Association).
Additional Requirements
  • New Graduate experienced in anesthesia for major procedures involving extensive monitoring and fluid, blood, and electrolyte replacement for various age groups.
  • MUST demonstrate technical/clinical and professional skills within scope of practice defined by CA Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Requires additional skills in charting, documentation, equipment knowledge, productivity, job and personal maturity, communication, education and staff development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in general and regional administration, deep sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, use of all anesthesia‑related equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
Employment Details
  • Full‑time position; required to work rotating weekends, holidays and take call.
  • 25,000 Sign‑on Bonus eligible.
