The Riverside County Fire Department is currently recruiting for an Assistant Fire Nurse Manager located in Riverside. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for supporting the Chief of Support Services.  In addition, the Assistant Nurse Fire Manager will assist in the development of policies and procedures and supervise the Continuous Quality Improvement Plan.  The incumbent will also promote collaboration among other departments, units, programs, and physicians.

Seeking candidates that possess a BSN and experience in pre-hospital care (i.e. critical care, responding to emergencies, ICU, and or emergency room).

Candidates with the following certifications are encouraged to apply:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and/or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

License and Certificates:

* Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.

The Department, a unique partnership between State of California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the County of Riverside, serves 19 partner agencies and 1 community service district. * Support the Support Services Division Chief, EMS Battalion Chief and his/her assistants in planning, coordinating, and supervising the work of nursing personnel for the EMS Bureau, programs, or departments.

* Evaluate or assist in evaluating the performance of subordinate personnel; assist in the scheduling of personnel and approving time cards; assist in the coordination of in-service educational programs and staff meetings; assist preceptors in developing unit orientation programs for new nurses or program staff.

* Assist in the development of policies and procedures, standards of care and practice, and in the monitoring of prehospital care, in relation to those standards, to assure compliance with Riverside County EMS Agency Regulation, Title XXII, and other regulatory standards such as those required by EMSA, REMSA, RUHS-MC, RUHS-PH, mental health or public health program grants; advise staff on the interpretation and application of agency policies, laws, and regulations.

* Assist in preparing administrative records, reports, and correspondence related to budget and unit or program operations.

* Promote reliability in the acuity classification of patients and supervise, as needed to meet staffing requirements.

* Promote collaboration among other departments, units, programs, and physicians; represent assigned unit(s) or programs in committee meetings; may address local groups on public health matters

OPTION I

Education:

Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of California. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing is preferred.

Experience:

Three years as a full time Registered Nurse in any healthcare facility. In addition to the required experience, one year of senior or supervisory experience is also required. Experience gained as an Interim Permit Nurse may be substituted for the required experience. For some positions, one year of experience in Community Health Nursing is required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

OPTION II

Education:

Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of California. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field is preferred.

Experience:

Two years of full time supervisory nursing in any healthcare facility.

ALL OPTIONS

Knowledge of:
Application of the nursing process; full range of registered nurse duties and responsibilities; principles and methods of supervision and training; basic management skills; problem solving techniques.

Ability to:
Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate nursing services within specific unit(s); communicate effectively; positively manage change and conflict; interpret licensure and accreditation standards; analyze and draft department policies and procedures; apply productive problem-solving skills; write clear and concise reports; perform registered nurse or public health nurse responsibilities according to the State of California Nurse Practice Act; implement the nursing process.

Other Requirements

License/Certificate:
Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Public Health Nursing Certificate in the State of California.

Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required.
