The Riverside University Health System (RUHS) offers opportunities for Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) within its Community Health Centers (CHCs) in the western region of Riverside County.
Current Clinic Openings: Lake Elsinore, Mead Valley, Moreno Valley, Mobile Health - PER DIEM.
Family Nurse Practitioners at the RUHS CHCs see patients of all ages and perform procedures within their scope of work, including OB/GYN and Pediatrics. The CHCs are high‑volume outpatient clinics that provide comprehensive, compassionate primary care and specialty services to underserved populations. As federally qualified health centers, practitioners may qualify for federal, state, and local loan repayment programs.
Ideal Candidate- Board certified
- Minimum two to three years of primary‑care experience
- Bilingual Spanish skills beneficial, but not required
- Per Diem Mobile Health/floater position: at least two days per week and driving between sites
- Take patient health histories; perform physical examinations; record findings and assess the health status of patients.
- Identify abnormalities and/or concerns in physical, mental, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial functioning; order, review, and interpret diagnostic and screening procedures.
- Perform selected diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; follow orders for administering medications and therapeutic devices.
- Provide health counseling and educate patients on specific areas related to patient illness/health status.
- Refer patients for further diagnosis and/or treatment when indicated; identify patients who require immediate attention of a physician; initiate specified emergency treatment; carry out approved treatment plans.
- Initiate orders for medication and therapeutic devices to patients; may assist in orienting less experienced nurse practitioners.
- Provide input into clinical decision making via participation on committees as assigned; collaborate with other nurse practitioners and physicians to review protocols for health care.
Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, public health, health sciences, or a closely related field. Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner in a recognized national board specialty is required.
ExperienceNP II – one year of experience in a comparable health‑care setting.
NP III – three years as a Nurse Practitioner with at least one year in a comparable setting to this assignment.
Techniques used in diagnosis and treatment, principles of health maintenance and disease management, psychosocial assessment, normal growth and development, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nutrition, counseling and health education, health‑care delivery systems, community resources and referral systems, legal implications of advance practice roles in nursing, and principles of quality assurance.
AbilitiesProvide care for acute and chronic health problems; collaborate with team, patients, and families to identify and resolve health issues; write clear, concise documentation; provide independent nursing care; function under standardized protocols; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships; analyze situations accurately and take effective action.
Licensing and Certification- Certificate authorizing practice as a Nurse Practitioner in California.
- Valid license to furnish medications as a Nurse Practitioner in California.
- Current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a recognized national board.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association may be required at certain locations.
