Quality Control Inspector IIILocation: Riverside, CA
Pay Range: $25.50 - $30.00/hr.
Schedule: Onsite from 6am - 2:30pm
Position SummaryThe Quality Control Inspector III is a quality professional responsible for leading complex inspections, driving defect prevention initiatives, and supporting cross‑functional quality investigations within transit vehicle manufacturing. This role serves as a subject matter expert in mechanical, electrical, and function related inspection and plays a key role in final acceptance of buses. Level III inspectors operate independently and in conjunction with the Sr Quality Inspector, influence process improvements, and act as the escalation point for critical quality issues.
Key Responsibilities- Lead in‑process and final inspections on complex assemblies and complete vehicles
- Serve as a support for road tests, engineering testing and validation
- Perform functional system checks
- Lead First Article Inspections and validation activities
- Support root cause analysis using structured problem‑solving methods
- Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions
- Partner with Supplier Quality on material‑based defects found during production
- Train and mentor Level I and II inspectors
- Assist in development and improvement of inspection plans and checklists
- Provide quality risk input during new product introduction and engineering changes
Required Skills (5–8+ years of experience in transit vehicle, heavy equipment, automotive, aerospace, or similar manufacturing)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical assemblies, and vehicle integration
- Experience with defect tracking and reporting out weekly findings
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems
- Ability to analyze defect trends and recommend systemic corrective actions
- Leadership presence and ability to influence cross‑functional teams
- Excellent documentation and audit preparation skills
- Experience leading in‑process and end of line inspections
- Supporting audits or regulatory compliance activities
