The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily QA and food safety operations at the facility, ensuring that products consistently meet regulatory, customer, and company standards. This role matters because it protects F&S's reputation for food safety and quality while directly supporting our mission of delivering fresh, safe products to families every day. The QA Supervisor partners closely with Production and plant leadership to balance throughput goals with food safety requirements, leading root cause investigations and corrective actions when issues arise.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong regulatory knowledge, sound independent judgment, and the coaching skills to build a strong QA team. This person thrives in a fast‑paced, chilled food manufacturing environment and communicates confidently across departments and with regulatory inspectors.
- Supervise QA and Production team members to ensure regulatory compliance, adherence to protocols, and successful pre‑op, USDA, and audit inspections
- Partner with QA and operations management to implement and maintain food safety best practices and processes
- Lead root cause analysis and develop CAPA (corrective and preventive action) plans in response to quality and food safety issues
- Maintain quality control and product/process verification systems, including sampling procedures, environmental swabbing, and analytical testing
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for direct reports, including scheduling, training, and performance management
- Conduct and facilitate internal and external quality audits (including GFSI, organic, and customer audits), documenting findings and next steps
- Validate receiving, temperature, and inspection documentation; ensure FIFO, allergen segregation, and labeling standards are followed
- Balance production needs with quality and food safety requirements, making independent decisions to resolve conflicts as they arise
- 3–5 years of progressive Quality Assurance or Food Safety experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching ability
- Excellent root cause analysis and CAPA development skills
- Strong regulatory knowledge (USDA‑FSIS/FDA/GFSI)
- Ability to balance production needs with quality and food safety requirements
- Effective conflict resolution and cross‑functional communication
- Ability to make independent quality and food safety decisions
- Proficient in MS Office and working knowledge of common QA applications (e.g., Produce Pro)
