Quality Technician

The Quality Technician performs standardized quality control tests and inspections on products, materials, and components to ensure they meet internal and external quality standards. This role records and analyzes statistical data, clearly documents and communicates non-conformances, and supports continuous improvement activities within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform standardized quality control tests and inspections on products, materials, and components in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure all products and processes comply with internal and external quality standards and specifications.
  • Record detailed statistical data from inspections and compare results against established standards and tolerances.
  • Clearly document and communicate non-conformances, including the nature of the issue, affected parts, and potential impact.
  • Resolve routine quality questions and problems independently, escalating more complex issues to higher-level quality personnel when necessary.
  • Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, irregularities, or deviations from specifications.
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other hand and power tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine inspection criteria.
  • Support and actively participate in lean initiatives and continuous improvement activities to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Take on new activities and special assignments as needed to support production and quality objectives.
  • Maintain accurate, organized inspection records and documentation for traceability and reporting.
  • Follow all safety procedures while working near moving mechanical parts and using tools and equipment.
Essential Skills
  • 1–2 years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment or related field.
  • Previous inspection experience in a production or industrial setting.
  • Experience with lean principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Proficiency in visual inspection to identify defects and non-conformances.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience performing quality assurance and quality inspection activities.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand how parts and components fit and function.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and document non-conformances and inspection results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and documentation.
  • Ability to lift 10–40 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day while performing inspections and related activities.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a quality control or quality assurance role within manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with statistical data recording and comparison against quality standards.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives in a production environment.
  • Comfort working around moving mechanical parts, oil, grease, dust, metal particles, and sharp edges.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and take on special assignments as needed.
