The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position. This is an open research area position, and the department welcomes applicants from all areas of chemical and environmental engineering who demonstrate strong potential for impactful research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
Salary will range from $66,737 to $80,034 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with University of California guidelines see: (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Successful candidates will have a strong research record and experience relevant to their area of specialization. Preferred qualifications include experience in designing and implementing research protocols, managing quality data acquisition, conducting data analysis, mentoring students, and contributing effectively in collaborative research environments.

QualificationsBasic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Must have a Ph.D. in Chemical and Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
Preferred qualifications
- Expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry, such as genetic manipulation of bacteria, heterologous gene expression, enzyme isolation and purification.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated on scientific research and good at teamwork with critical and independent thinking.
- Molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, including obtain a mechanistic understanding of (i) microbial defluorination of organofluorines (e.g., PFAS) and (ii) the development of antibiotic resistance under environmental stresses.
