We are looking for a reliable Lab Assistant 1 to support ongoing projects in Dr. Ting Zhao and Dr. Yan Hong's joint lab. The lab uses mouse models and human induced pluripotent stem cell models to study Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia. Primary responsibilities include preparing standardized media, reagents, and solutions from established formulas; setting up simple laboratory apparatus; and assisting supervisors in maintaining a clean, organized laboratory environment, washing glassware and autoclaving, and picking up lab packages.
Additionally, the position includes hands‑on lab work, such as assisting the supervisor in mouse genotyping by following established protocols.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position; UCR is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, which may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
The full salary range for the Lab Assistant 1 is $25.75 – $30.17 per hour. The expected pay scale for this position is $25.75 – $26.79 per hour, based on education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other business needs. This recruitment is for a part‑time limited position at 37.5% time, or 15 hours per week, not intended to convert to a career appointment.
