Access Control Mechanic

Overview

Reporting to the Fire & Life Safety Supervisor in the Facilities Services Department, the Access Control Mechanic performs journey-level access control and locksmith services throughout the University of California, Riverside campus.

• Install, program, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and monitor a variety of access control systems and stand‑alone networks.
• Provide access control services indoors and outdoors, ensuring availability to respond to emergencies during and after hours.
• Coordinate and communicate with campus customers to understand their needs and fulfill work order requests.
• Collaborate with other skilled trades to prepare new builds for launch and occupancy.

• Current work authorization to accept a UCR staff position.
• Ability to work full‑time (100%) with a schedule of 8 AM – 5 PM.
• Strong mechanical and technical skills related to access control systems, programming, and locksmith services.
• Knowledge of campus safety and emergency response protocols.

The full salary range for the Access Control Mechanic is $41.67 – $46.92 per hour. Salary offers are based on education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
