Overview
Reporting to the Fire & Life Safety Supervisor in the Facilities Services Department, the Access Control Mechanic performs journey-level access control and locksmith services throughout the University of California, Riverside campus.
Responsibilities- Install, program, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, inspect, and monitor a variety of access control systems and stand‑alone networks.
- Provide access control services indoors and outdoors, ensuring availability to respond to emergencies during and after hours.
- Coordinate and communicate with campus customers to understand their needs and fulfill work order requests.
- Collaborate with other skilled trades to prepare new builds for launch and occupancy.
- Current work authorization to accept a UCR staff position.
- Ability to work full‑time (100%) with a schedule of 8 AM – 5 PM.
- Strong mechanical and technical skills related to access control systems, programming, and locksmith services.
- Knowledge of campus safety and emergency response protocols.
The full salary range for the Access Control Mechanic is $41.67 – $46.92 per hour. Salary offers are based on education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
