Commercial Tire Service Technician

Position Summary:

The Commercial Tire Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, replacement, mounting, balancing, and servicing of commercial truck, industrial, agricultural, and off-the-road tires. This position requires safe operation of service vehicles and equipment while delivering exceptional customer service both in-shop and on roadside service calls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tire mounting, dismounting, balancing, rotating, and repairs on commercial vehicles and equipment
  • Conduct roadside service calls in a safe, professional, and timely manner
  • Inspect tires, wheels, and related components for wear, damage, and proper inflation
  • Operate service trucks and equipment safely and in compliance with company and DOT regulations
  • Complete work orders, service documentation, and customer signatures accurately
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, service trucks, and equipment
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, managers, and customers regarding service needs and job status
  • Assist with inventory control and proper handling of tires and materials
  • Participate in after-hours emergency roadside service rotation as required
  • Promote a positive company image through professionalism and customer service

Requirements:

  • Previous tire service or mechanical experience preferred, but willing to train motivated candidates
  • Valid driver's license required; commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and complete work orders and service paperwork accurately
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy tires and equipment regularly
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various weather conditions for extended periods
  • Ability to safely operate jacks, air tools, compressors, and heavy equipment
  • Must be able to respond to roadside service calls at various times, including nights and weekends if required
