The Department of Public Social Services Self Sufficiency Division is seeking 5 paid student interns. This opportunity will provide interns with experiential learning in client advocacy, community engagement, and social service program operations by supporting social workers and community service staff to assist individuals and families in need of social, emotional, or financial support.
The internship is in-person, offers a flexible work week of approximately 20 hours per week, and is expected to last one year.
The role is available to current high school students with a valid work permit, undergraduates, graduates, doctoral students, or recent graduates who are pursuing a major related to a specific profession. Interns will be employed by County of Riverside departments and receive in‑service training as they perform duties of professional employees.
Responsibilities- Assist with case documentation, community outreach, and connecting clients with available resources such as housing assistance, food programs, healthcare, and counseling services.
- May conduct interviews while maintaining confidential records.
- Assist with program coordination.
- Participate in community events.
- Assist with organizing support services for vulnerable populations.
Minimum Cumulative GPA
: 2.5 GPA required. Proof of the most current unofficial or official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at the time of application.
Education
:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior) at an accredited college or university or preparing to transfer to a Bachelor's program during the internship. Recent college graduates are eligible to intern for up to one year after graduation.
Areas of Study
:
Psychology, Sociology or other Behavioral Sciences, Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies, or similar.
