Position Information

The SWIFT Clinician is a new clinical role within the Student Well‑Being, Intervention, and Follow‑Through (SWIFT) department, part of the Mental Health Initiatives team in the Division of Health Well‑Being and Safety (HWS). The clinician will provide crisis assessment, treatment/intervention, and prevention services for a wide range of mental health challenges students may experience. The clinician will promote a campus culture emphasizing fair, collaborative, and trusting community relationships, and respectful and humane methods for mental health and campus safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to crisis situations and deliver on‑ and off‑site, immediate and personalized interventions within an inclusive framework of inclusion, excellence, and social justice.
  • Provide professional mental health crisis assessment, treatment/intervention, and prevention services to students experiencing a variety of mental health challenges.
  • Co‑respond with the Campus Safety Responder (CSR) team member in a de‑escalation‑trained, non‑sworn co‑response model for out‑of‑office crisis situations.
  • Navigate and connect students to on‑ and off‑campus resources, including post‑hospitalization/discharge support from state or local psychiatric hospitals.
  • Work flexible, non‑traditional hours (11:00 AM – 8:00 PM) to meet students’ needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Current, valid California work authorization.
  • Professional licensure or certification in a mental health field (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering crisis intervention services and trauma‑informed care in a student or youth setting.
  • Multicultural proficiency and affirming practice, with demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Salary and Benefits

Annual salary range: $78,700 – $145,100 (up to $105,000). Salary is based on education, licensure, experience, and organizational needs.
