Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.88 / Hour
SummaryThe Lifeguard is a seasonal/temporary position responsible for monitoring activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and aid swimmers. This position is vital in ensuring the safety and well-being of registered District patrons during the pool season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Program Duties:
- Actively scan the pool area to identify potential hazards and prevent accidents.
- Monitor activities and enforce pool rules and regulations to ensure patron safety.
- Caution swimmers about unsafe areas or behaviors.
- Maintain a safe environment for participants and staff.
- Collaborate with other co-workers and supervisors to keep things running smoothly.
- Emergency Response:
- Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer CPR and first aid as needed.
- Respond effectively to emergencies following established protocols.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the swimming area(s).
- Participating in keeping the area around the pool clean and free from hazards.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks.
- Water Quality:
- Report any water quality concerns to the Pool Manager.
- Professional Development:
- Attending and completing applicable online/in-person training sessions and orientations.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
- Regular and timely attendance is mandatory.
- Scheduled work hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Professional, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with people of all ages.
- Patient and kind, especially with children.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
- A team player who is willing to help wherever needed.
Other duties may be assigned.

- Minimum 16 years of age and completion of 9th grade.
- Live Scan Fingerprint background check (If over 18) for criminal history verification.
- Pre-employment functional capacity test to assess your ability to perform essential duties.
- Pre-employment drug screen for the presence of controlled substances.
- Completing these screenings successfully is a mandatory step in the pre-employment process

Ability- Be a strong swimmer and pass a swimming physical fitness ability test for Lifeguard certification.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age at the time of application.
- Able to provide a valid work permit if under 18.
- Minimum of a ninth-grade education.
No experience is required for entry-level lifeguards. (Experience is a plus)
Language SkillsStrong Communication skills are essential for this role.
- Effectively interpret and apply information from various documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports.
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear instructions and directions to patrons.
- Bilingual is a plus.
