Overview
The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies. Riverside County Department of Transportation seeks a Garage Attendant, located in Riverside.
Responsibilities- Execute garage support activities such as performing minor maintenance on automotive equipment, including changing windshield wipers and light bulbs, removing and replacing oil and air filters and replenishing fluids such as water and oil.
- Maintain garage facilities by performing general janitorial responsibilities such as sweeping, removing trash and cleaning restrooms. Process deliveries and deliver equipment parts to different facilities in Riverside County.
- Assist in the performance of minor maintenance and servicing of a vehicle fleet including servicing equipment with oil, water, air, and fuel; change oil; remove and replace air and oil filters.
- Assist in lubricating fleet service vehicles; may assist in recovery of disabled vehicles including minor road service and towing of vehicles; may transport vehicles to various county locations.
- Affix decals and assist in new vehicle preparation; assist in preparation of vehicles for painting.
- Replace worn items such as windshield wipers, light bulbs, and fan belts; steam cleans equipment.
- Perform parts or delivery runs to various fleets service new facilities; clean, wax or polish equipment.
- Perform janitorial duties as directed; perform errands; maintain shop equipment.
- May supervise volunteers and Sheriff Department Work Release participants as directed.
- Perform light garage maintenance to include carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
- Experience and skills include:
- Basic automotive maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to calculate supplies and shop equipment needed to service light and medium trucks up to 35,000 lbs. GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight).
- Experience using manual and power-assisted automotive tools, floor jack, jack stands, gas powered blower and shop vacuum.
- Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; learn the principles of vehicle maintenance; learn safety practices and procedures of a vehicle maintenance facility/service center; perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of vehicle services equipment; follow oral and written instructions.
