The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting to fill current full‑time vacancies in the Maintenance Department. This position performs routine service on all Agency vehicles and 40' buses. The role may be assigned at either the Riverside or Hemet locations. Applicants must be available to work all weekdays, including weekends, holidays, and all shifts, and the position works an overnight shift, typically starting between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
Position OverviewThis recruitment is to create an eligibility list to backfill the Servicer role as vacancies occur.
Responsibilities- Fueling
- Inspection of all fluid levels
- Cleaning of interior and exterior surfaces
- Replacement of worn items such as wiper blades, light bulbs and lenses
- Changing of tires
- Changing engine oil and transmission fluid
- Lubrication
- Moving vehicles and buses around maintenance facilities
Janitorial services as required, running errands, maintaining proper records, pulling vaults from revenue vehicles and replacing with empty vaults, storing filled vaults in the coin counting room, posting and removing rider alerts and car cards on revenue vehicles, maintaining records of vault/fare box condition and vehicle assignment, and other related tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience- High school graduation or equivalent
- Preferably one year of experience in general labor or janitorial work
- Must be able to perform heavy manual labor (lift up to 50 lbs.), learn and follow procedures, and follow oral and written instructions
- Current valid non‑restricted Class C Driver’s License
- DMV K4 driver’s history printout issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application
- Driver’s Record Report from DMV kiosk/online history printout
- Class B permit by first day of employment and ability to obtain Class B license and medical certificate within 90 days of employment
- At least 18 years old
- Minimum 6 months of driving history
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
Applicants and driving records will be evaluated. Qualified applicants will be invited to a selection process that includes:
- Driving record review (pass/fail)
- Written exam (pass/fail)
- Performance exam (pass/fail)
- Final ranking determined by oral interview examination (100% weight)
Failure to provide a current Driver’s Record Report (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) will disqualify your application.
