Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role is responsible for delivering vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26 feet and, for CDL Class A holders, tractors and trailer movement. The position may also assist the service department with parts and equipment deliveries.

This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job, ideal for licensed Class C drivers seeking supplemental income and flexibility, with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week based on business needs.

Flexible, must be prepared to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destinations of Penske locations or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, and report to location manager if any issues are found.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

• 2 years of driving experience required.
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required.
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions is required.
• Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required.
• English language proficiency is required to comply with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Requires maintaining a current driver qualification file, including an annual MVR check, a completed DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History records. CDL holders will have a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and be subject to a FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and undergo drug screening are required.
