Maintenance and Construction Worker (MCW)
The County of Riverside Transportation Department is hiring for a Maintenance and Construction Worker (MCW) position across Riverside County. Selected candidates will perform construction work or field maintenance, including repairing roads, constructing and maintaining fencing, flood control channels, levees and culverts, and clearing storm debris.
Responsibilities- Construct, maintain and repair roads by patching holes with asphalt and/or concrete.
- Construct, maintain and repair fencing, flood control channel walls, levees and culverts.
- Clear fencing, roads, flood control channel walls, levees, culverts and other storm debris and damage.
- Conduct recycling work at refuse disposal sites:
- Load/unload waste tires at illegal dump sites during community cleanups.
- Collect, package and ship electronic waste for recycling.
- Collect, handle and store household antifreeze, batteries, motor oil and paints from landfill customers.
- Spray, cut and clear brush and weeds.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, mowers and other light motorized equipment.
- Perform traffic direction, set up and maintain traffic signs at refuse disposal sites.
- Perform graffiti abatement in unincorporated areas of Riverside County.
One year of performing construction work or field maintenance work that requires operation of light trucks and related construction equipment.
Other RequirementsValid California Driver License – Class A or
B.
The majority of this position requires working outdoors in inclement weather conditions (rain, sleet, wind, and summer temperatures exceeding 115°F).
ScheduleA 4/10 work schedule, which may include overtime and occasional weekends.
Safety and Verification RequirementsApplicants must submit a DMV driving record prior to hire. If designated as a safety‑sensitive position, applicants may need to complete DOT‑mandated alcohol and drug screening. Applicants invited to interview must also submit a copy of their DMV Driving Report generated within the last 30 days.
